A car driver was beaten to death in CRB (Central Railway Building) area under Kotwali police station in the port city early Monday following a dispute over drug .
The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 45, son of Shamsul Islam, hailed from Laxmipur district.
Kotwali police station sub-inspector Enamul said a clash ensued between two local groups over drug behind the campus of Open University in the area on Sunday night.
On information, a team of police rushed in, recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Jasim Uddin.
Quoting locals, the SI said Monir was beaten to death by a heavy object.
Meanwhile, a man, Shafik, was detained in this connection, said the OC adding that they will investigate into the killing incident.
