An agitation rally held and human chain formed in front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall in Barishal city on Monday noon demanding capital punishment of the killers and plotters of AL leader UP Chairman Bishwajit Haldar Nantu murder.
Resident of Jalla Union under Wajirpur Upazila of the district organised the programme presided over by Nazrul Islam Bachchu, Jalla union AL secretary, and addressed among other by family members of the victim and socio-political leaders of the region.
Law enforcers have arrested some of the accused, but the main accused and plotters yet to be arrested, protesters alleged.
Shuk Lal Haldar, father of the victim said, we demanding justice. Nantu was trying to prevent drug peddling in the area making awareness and as a result some of influential threatened and later killed him.
A K Fiyazul Haque, one of nomination aspirant of that constituency, said some of influential are connected with this brutal killing’
We urged the authorities to take proper steps to arrest the killer, said Hiron Kumar Das Mithu, convener Gono Forum, Barishal branch.
On October 21 night, local UP chairman and AL president Biswajit Halder Nantu, 40, was shot dead at his business place `Dishrai Bashralaya’ at Karfa Bazar of Jalla Union at evening by unknown miscreants.
Shuklal Halder father of the victim lodged a case with Wajirpur police station accusing 32 by-name and 8 others unnamed and police already arrested 8 by-name and two suspected accused in connection of this murder, said Shishir Kumar Pal, officer in charge of Wajirpur police station.
