Students of Chittagong University (CU) staged demonstration on the campus on Wednesday morning demanding capital punishment of the accused men who were involved in Abrar murder.
Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was allegedly beaten to death on Sunday night by some Chhatra League leaders for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Around hundreds of female students of different residential halls of the university brought out a protest procession from Shamsurnahar hall of the university. After parading the campus under the banner of ‘General Students of CU’, they formed a human chain in front of central Shahid Miner of the university where they carried banners and chanted slogans demanding justice for Abrar.
“For criticizing India’s aggressive policies on Facebook, Chhatra League activists killed Abrar Fahad. No one has right to kill anyone even if he involves crime. Even they cannot interrogate anyone. We immediately demand justice for the murder of Abrar.” the agitators made the remark in the chain.
Contracted, CU Acting Proctor Razaul Karim said, the students demanded capital punishment to the killers. We also demand capital punishment of those accused men who involved in this connection. This demand will be conveyed to the government.
