Canteen girl raped at JU

The students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) local people on Wednesday protested the alleged rape of a girl who worked at Pritilata Hall’s canteen of the university and demanded exemplary punishment of accused rapists.
The demand came at a human chain under the banner of ‘Dhorshon, Madhok o Shontrasher Birudhe Amra Alakabashi’, at JU Prantik Gate which was organized by JU students and locals.
Sources said, numbers of local of Pathalia union including JU School and College students joined the protesting programme and chanted against the accused rapist culprits.
Many a local alleged that Police are trying to save the main criminal, Md. Sujan, a son of Pathalia Union Parishad member as his father Lehaz Uddin is an influential member. Though Sujan was the main accused rapist, Police included his name as the third accused man.’
They also urged to the authorities to ensure exemplary punishment of rapists.
Earlier, Bangladesh Student Union (BSU) of JU unit formed a human chain ahead of JU administration Building to press the same demand.
Mentionable, on March 26 late night, some local youths allegedly kidnapped the 13-year-old from her friend’s house in Ambagan area adjacent to the university and raped her.
After her guardians informed the police, they rescued her on March 27.
Later, the canteen owner Manik filed a kidnapping case with Ashulia police on March 28 against Md Fazlu alias Foyjul, Manik, Md Sujan, and Md Shafiqul.
