Candidates contesting in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls are busy trying to woo voters.
The election, being held after 28 years, is scheduled for March 11.
Candidates from various student organisations, alliances and independent forums are distributing leaflets and seeking votes.
According to the final list published on Sunday, 229 candidates are vying for 25 posts. The final candidates’ list is available at ducsu.du.ac.bd.
Ruling Awami League student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists are going from one end of the campus to the other seeking support for their panel.
BCL central General Secretary Golam Rabbani, vying for Ducsu general secretary (GS), campaigned at Madhur canteen, central library, social science chattar and Aparajeo Bangla. He was joined by the student front’s DU unit General Secretary Saddam Hussain, contesting for assistant general secretary.
Rabbani said they are getting good response from the students.
Meanwhile, BNP student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), left leaning students’ bodies and Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Council also kicked off their campaigns.
“We are hopeful that general students will support us,” said Mostafizur Rahman, VP post aspirant from JCD panel.
