11th Parliamentary polls: Candidates active in Chakaria-Pekua Constituency

Election campaign for the 11th national parliamentary polls has already started in Chakaria-Pekua Constituency.
Candidates are launching campaign to show their the eligibility to the voters.
Since the last 1973, Awami League has not won in this seat . During this time, the BNP won five times, the Jatiya Party three times and Jamaat-e-Islami once time.
 However, Jatiya Party leader Haji Mohammad Iliyas was nominated as a member of the opposition in the 10th parliamentary elections.
However, the Awami League has become increasingly vulnerable to win the upcoming 11th national parliament elections .
The grassroots leaders and workers are seen in the field. They are also going to the voters’ door and highlighting government’s development work message.
Meanwhile, BNP wants to restore the seat again and again but failed. The Jatiya Party wants to retain the seat politically. Jamaat Islami has declared the candidate in this seat. It is learnt that the leaders of the party led by Chakaria Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League President Jafar Alam have been united.
The solid foundation of the Awami League led by Jafar Alam under the leadership of Chakaria and Pekuara, known as the BNP’s fortress, has stabilized in the hope of good days ahead.
Zafar Alam’s name comes in the discussion for Awami League nomination in this constituency.
 BNP candidate Hasina Ahmad is also in the discussion. Gazi Uddin Chowdhury, General Secretary of Chakaria Upazila Awami League, said Zafar Alam, who led the movement against BNP-Jamaat, want to win this seat in the 47 years of independence.
 Alamgir Chowdhury, Mayor and Joint Secretary of the Upazila Awami League of Chakaria Municipality said that under the leadership of his contribution to the party, the field of politics is under the Awami League. So, hoping that Zafar will nominate the party in the next parliamentary election, he hopes he will nominate the party in next parliamentary elections. Zafar Alam said, I am working on the issue of Awami League politics and dedicated to the party. He hoped that the party will nominate him for the eleventh parliamentary elections. He said, I believe the party’s president will nominate me this time.
BNP’s local activists believe that this seat will be restored again by capitalizing on the popularity of BNP’s central leader and former state minister Salahuddin Ahmad, has come back from Shillong, India after release from the jai. Hasina said that my husband Salahuddin Ahmed is still in the heart of the people of Chakaria-Pekua. She is quite popular. He expects that he will be the candidate of the eleventh parliamentary elections. Cox’s Bazar district BNP president Shahjahan Chowdhury said, the party’s central leader Salahuddin Ahmed’s favorite person will get the party’s nomination.
Jatiya Party’s Cox’s Bazar District President Haji Mohammad Ilias said that he will be nominated as a candidate for the grand alliance. He also said that the people of the area got relief because he was elected MP. On the other hand, former MP AH Salahuddin Mahmud, presidium member of Jatiya Party (JP) led by Anwar Hossain Manjur, hopes for nomination from the Grand Alliance. He was also Chairman of Cox’s Bazar District Council and Chakaria Upazila Parishad.
Salahuddin Mahmud said , if the party join the eleventh parliamentary elections, he will be also elected candidate as the candidate of the Grand Alliance.
Chairman of Chakaria-Pekua Development Forum as the candidate of the party to contest the upcoming election from Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the 20-party alliance partners. Arifur Rahman Chowdhury declared Manik’s name. Manik will also contest as an independent candidate in Poznan, a source said.
