Ekushey Award winner noted music composer and director Sujeyo Shyam has been affected with prostate cancer. Last week he got the information from a hospital in India. In August, he will again go to India to biopsy the matter to identify in which stage he is now. After affected with cancer he is facing lack of financial support for his treatment. So, he urged the Prime Minister to give him financial assistance for his treatment.
Sujeyo Shyam said, “I have been passing days nicely. I believed I would leave the world remaining good health. But cancer made me unwell. I am not financially solvent. If the Prime Minister comes forward and gives me financial assistance I will be grateful to her.”
Sujeyo Shyam was the composer of last song of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and first composer of our war of independence. He composed the song Bijoy nishan urchhey oi written by Shahidul Amin. Ajit Roy was the key singer of this song.
Kalyani Ghosh, Uma Chowdhury, Rathindranath Roy, Timir Nandi, Kaderi Kibria, Probal Chowdhury, Bulbul Moholanobish, Rafiqul Alam, Mrinal, Ashit, Rupa, Mala, among others, rendered songs under his composition. Sujeyo Shyam also composed songs of the War of Liberation.
