Staff Reporter :An application has been submitted to the President, praying for cancellation of judgeship of retired judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik for his controversial behaviours and activities. Advocate Md Mozammel Haque, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, submitted the application to the President’s office on Tuesday noon. Mozammel Haque said that he applied to the President so that Justice Manik can’t sit in any bench to resolve any case if he is called anytime in future. His word ‘judgeship` used in the application mean the matter, he said. “The Chief Justice can call a justice any time if requires. However, a justice uses the word ‘Justice’ for all time. I applied so that Justice Manik can’t use the word and take state facilities,” said the lawyer. Earlier on May 5 in 2012, Mozammel Haque also forwarded an application to the President, praying for removal of Justice Manik. In the application, he claimed that Justice Manik used abusive words against him (Mozammel) and other lawyers at that time. He wrote to the President on the same day when MPs demanded Justice Manik’s removal by the Supreme Judicial Council for his remarks against the Speaker.At that time, Justice Manik issued a contempt of court rule against a Supreme Court lawyer.
