The general students of Rajshahi University (RU) on Tuesday formed a human chain demanding cancellation of 43 students illegal admission, for given an opportunity to those students to admit at the university after failing in the test of 2019-20 academic sessions.
The students gathered in front of the university’s central library premises around 12 pm. RU Unit Chhatra Adhikar Parishad organised the event.
During the human chain programme, the speakers said that the university has already placed the first position in the field of research. But the university authorities have given a chance to those students for admission at the country’s renowned university which is illegal.
At that time, the speakers also uphold the five-point demands and urged the authorities to take the admission in a transparent way in every academic session.
Their demands include are– to cancel admission of the 43 students who were admitted illegally in the university, to play an effective role in monitoring, to stop unnecessary interference in admission of the administration, to reform the quota system and to admit the students following the serials of merit if there are not found quota-occupying students.
Besides, a memorandum has been submitted to the university vice chancellor prof M Abdus Sobhan at the end of programme.
Among others, RU unit Chhatra Adhikar Parishad president Murshidul Alam, Kendriyo Sangskritik Jote president Mohiuddin Manik was also addressed on the occasion while the Parishad’s General Secretary Mazharul Islam conducted it.
