Campaigns continue to prevent rumours in dists

Police here continues separate awareness raising campaign to prevent incidents like lynching of innocent people suspecting child lifter and spreading rumours.
Khulna Range Police, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and Khulna District Police are separately holding awareness meeting to prevent these menace in different educational institutions and other important public places.
Police are also conducting campaign using mikes, distributing leaflets and having awareness meeting with different professional bodies including public representatives.
Khulna Range DIG Dr Mohid Uddin, KMP Commissioner Khondokar Lutful Kabir and Khulna Police Super Shafiqullah launched campaigns separately on Wednesday last.
Meanwhile, Khulna City and District Unit Awami League (AL) in a joint statement alleged that leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat are involved in spreading rumours in planned way to achieve their heinous political interest.
The AL leaders urged common people to provide information to police and other law enforcement agencies to help prevent criminal offenses like lynching of innocent people by mass beating.
Jashore Correspondent reports: A rally an anti rumour procession was brought out by Jashore District Police in Jashore town on Thursday. Mohammad Shafiul Arif, Deputy Commissioner, Jashore and Mainul Haque, SP, Jashore led the procession. The procession was brought to make people conscious about lynching and such other rumour.
BSS from Rajshahi adss: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Humayun Kabir called for forging social resistance against rumour mongers.
“Stern action will be taken against those who will be found involved in spreading any rumours,” he said while addressing a meeting in the city on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
RMP hosted the meeting with students, teachers and members of the civil society at Ideal College conference hall.
With RMP Deputy Commissioner Sazid Hossain in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner Hatem Ali, Vice-principal of the college Prof Abdul Mannan and Union Parishad Chairman Mofidul Islam.
Humayun Kabir sought public support to free the society from all sorts of crimes like terrorism, extremism, drug-addiction and violence against women and children.
He said people should come forward towards thwarting all the ill-motives and evil-designs of vested quarters to destabilize the country’s existing peace and harmony.
He called for increasing intelligence vigilance to resist drug addiction, trafficking and trading as well as smuggling.
The meeting discussed the ways to combat all sorts of criminal activities,putting emphasis on boosting community participation for freeing the society from crimes.
