Inter-College Rugby: Cambrian face Dhaka Imperial in opener today

Cambrian College will face Dhaka Imperial College today in the opening match of the Eastern University Inter-College Rugby Competition at the Paltan Maidan. The match kicks-off at 11.30 am.
Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Raqibul Hasan will formally open the rugby meet as the chief guest while Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University Abdul Hannan Chowdhury will be with him as the special guest.
Bangladesh Rugby Federation has arranged the rugby tournament while Eastern University is the sponsor of the meet.
To mark the ensuing rugby competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. General Secretary of Bangladesh Rugby Federation (BRF) Mousum Ali, Deputy Director of Students Affairs of Eastern University Md Jamal Uddin and Joint-Secretary of BRF Sayeed Ahmed were present at the conference.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Tk 2,50,000 while Eastern University will bear total expenditure.
A total of 15 teams splitting into four groups are taking part in the rugby competition. Adamjee Cantonment College, Lohajang Degree College, Madartek School & College are in Group A, Saint Joseph’s Higher Secondary School & College, Dr Malika College, Dhaka Commerce College, Government Madrasa-e-Alia are in Group B, Cambrian College, Dhaka Imperial College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Yakub Ali School & College are in Group C, Gazipur Cantonment College, Dhaka College, Scholars School & College, Government Bangla College are in Group D.
Top team from each group will get the tickets of the semi-final.
The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final on September 6.
