Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Public Administration HN Ashikur Rahman has called upon everyone irrespective of caste, creed and religion for working unitedly to ensure welfare of the country, its people and humanity.
“Every religion teaches us the doctrine of non-violence through preaching the message of peace, brotherhood and respecting every human being,” he said at a cheque distribution ceremony in Rangpur yesterday as the chief guest.
The Hindu Religious Welfare Trust (HRWT) organised the ceremony at Rangpur Town Hall auditorium in the city for distributing cheques for Taka six lakh as grants among the representatives of 100 Mandirs of Rangpur and Panchagarh districts.
Member of the Board of Director of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Rehana Ashikur Rahman, Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, city AL General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal and Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar attended as special guests.
With Trustee of the HRWT for Rangpur, Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona in the chair, Vice-president of central committee of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Banamali Paul also addressed the occasion.
Terming Bangladesh as a land of communal harmony for time immemorial, Ashikur Rahman called upon the religious leaders, researchers and thinkers for preaching real meaning of religions to establish peace and brotherhood in the society.
Later, he distributed cheques of the HRWT among representatives of different Mandirs of the two districts.
