State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki called for giving more importance on establishing rights of women and children for sustainable development in the country.
Children are the future of the nation and they should be groomed as worthy citizens, she said this on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at a function to distribute teaching materials among underprivileged children in the city.
Lions Club (Dhaka Central East) organized the programme at Shyamoli Shishu Mela.
The state minister urged all to work together for the development of underprivileged children.
She said the government is pledged bound to fulfill the fundamental rights of children. A child can grow properly if its fundamental demands are met, she added.
She said the government is giving importance to making and implementing laws to protect children.
Presided over by Lion Banasri Biswas, the function was also addressed by Lion Wahiduzzaman, Engineer MA Awal and Lion M Junayed Iqbal.
