Discussants at the inaugural session of a youth fair said there is no way but to transform the youth forces into competent human resources for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
They said utmost importance should be given to make them worthy citizens by enriching and equipping them with technical, technological and other modern knowledge along with social and moral values to attain the cherished goal.
They were addressing the opening ceremony of a five-day “Rajshahi Divisional Youth Fair, View-sharing and Workshop” held at the Green Plaza of Nagar Bhaban in Rajshahi city Friday. Department of Youth Development (DYD) organized the event aimed at inspiring the youths to become self-reliant.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikder, MP, and Begum Akter Jahan, MP, addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed in the chair.
DYD Director General Asit Kumar Mukutmoni, Director (Training) Abdur Razzaque, Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury and DYD Deputy Director Motiur Rahman also spoke.
State Minister Biren Shikder asked the officials and others concerned to expedite the youth development activities for making the unemployed youths as competent work forces for freeing the nation from the curse of poverty.
He said the government level youth improvement programs and related other activities must be more need-oriented so that the target groups could derive total benefits of the programs.
“We have enormous scopes to make the jobless youths including female self-reliant through involving them in various income generating activities like garments, embroidery, fishery, dairy and poultry,” he added.
Biren Shikder said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to build Bangladesh as a developed and middle-income nation.
There are more than 30 stalls showcasing various consumer items produced by the youth organizations in the fair.
