BGMEA leaders urged upon govt to suspend collection of gain tax from service sectors of RMG industries temporarily following the present political instability in the country.
The BGMEA leaders in Chittagong at a meeting with Customs Excise & VAT commissionerate held on Thursday called upon the VAT Commissionerate to suspend realization of gain tax on service sector of RMG industries.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of Ctg Customs & VAT commissionerate conference hall with VAT commissioner Jamal Hossain in the chair.
The BGMEA leaders urged upon the VAT commissioner to place their prayer for suspension of vat collection from service sectors of RMG to the NBR immediately.
The leaders further said centering the present political instablility in the country, the RMG factories compelled to defer the shipment than the schedule as such some of the foreign orders are cancelled in the meantime.
Moreover, a number of factories are being closed as per directives of the global inspection team on RMG sector – Arcade and Alliance Inspection on physical inspection in different factories recently .
The leaders also disclosed that the output of the RMG sector is gradually declining over the closure of a number factories as well as production hampers lack of proper supply of gas and power.
The VAT commissioner in his concluding speech hailed the role of the garments sector to the national economy and urged them to cooperate with the govt in paying taxes .
He also assured them to bring their proposal to the higher authority immediately. Among others, BGMEA Directors Shabbir Mostafa,former director AM Chowdhiury selim,BGMEA customs affair member M Jahid, Al Mamun, Additional VAT Commissioner rKaziMostafizur Rahman , senior Customs, Excise & VAT officials and the owners of the RMG sector were present .
