A press conference was held in order to implement the decision of the Local Government Ministry and the order of the High Court Division to stop the illegal extortion of toll from the bus and truck terminals in Saidpur Municipality.
Nilphamari District Bus-Minibus Workers Union and Nilphamari District Truck-Tank lorry Workers Union jointly organised the press conference at Nilphamari District Bus-Minibus Workers Union Office at Saidpur central Bus Terminal on Monday.
President of Nilphamari District Bus-Minibus Workers Union Akhter Hossain Badal read out the written statement and said that the authorities of Saidpur Municipality violated the decision of Local Government Ministry, collecting toll of the vehicle parking outside the Bus and Truck Terminal at the rate of 50 to 30 taka per vehicle. In this situation, a petition filed by the General Secretary of Nilphamari District Truck-Tank lorry Workers Union Ranjit Kumar Roy on 13 the May in the High Court Division. On the basis of the writ petition, the High Court Division issued the order to stop the extortion of illegal toll by Saidpur Municipality. It is stated that, disobeying the order of the decision of Local Government Ministry and the order of the High court, Saidpur Municipality is collecting toll.
The press conference was organised to implement the Local Government Ministry’s decision and order of the High Court otherwise rigorous movement will be announced in the future.
