A seminar on World Consumers Rights Day was held at Chittagong Circuit house auditorium on Tuesday with Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin in the chair.
Divisional Commissioner Md.RuhulAmin graced the occasion as chief guest.
Additional police commissioner of Chittagong AKM Shahidur Rahman was present in it as special guest. The chief guest in his brief deliberations urged upon all conscious persons to come forward to resist the adulterated foods and urges to create social awareness among people to resist and avoid the spurious foods. Deputy commissioner as chair of the seminar said there is no alternative of social awareness for adulterated food. He also mentioned that the use of formalin decreases in some extents in Chittgong market but applying the chemicals in fruit products not yet to be eliminated.
He also disclosed that district administration regularly conducting mobile courts against adulterated foods and food houses in the city . He also urged the city dwellers to get united against the marketing of such spurious foods.
Consumers Association of Bangladesh, Chittagong chapter arranged the seminar .The theme of the World Consumers Rights Day was ‘ No to Antibiotic mixed Food’ Among others, President of CAB, Chittagong SM Nazer Hossain , General secretary Iqbal Bahar Sabery, Deputy Director of National Consumer Rights Prevention Directorate Jubair Ahmed, District Ansar Adjutant SM Azimuddin, CCC councilor Abida Azad, councilor Jesmin Parveen, and Director of Chittagong Women Chamber Rekha Alam Chowdhury spoke on the occasion, a CAB release said.
