The Fire Service and Civil Defence Week began in the district on Wednesday with a call to raise mass awareness to prevent fire incidents and roll back the post and pre-disastrous situation. In observance of the week, Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) office here has chalked out elaborate programmes. Our correspondenrs and agencies report :
Netrakona Correspondent reports: The Fire Service and Civil Defence Week began here on Wednersday with a call to create mass awareness to avert fire incidents and render services to face pre and post disaster situations.
The fire service and civil defence Department (FSCD) ,Netrakona designed an elaborate programmes to mark the week.
As part of the programme, a discussion meeting was held at the FSCD office here.
Deputy commissioner of Netrakona Main-UL-Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest and police super of Netrakona Akber Ali Munshi as special guest with chairman of Netrakona pourasava Nazrul Islam Khan in the chair.
Earlier, the deputy assistant director of the FSCD Mohammed Abdullah delivered a welcome speech highlighting the fire extinguishing networks and other service-oriented activities of the FSCD.
Speaking at the meeting, Main-UL-Islam issued instruction the FSCD officials to render services with utmost sincerity and devotion and stand beside the people during the period of any natural disaster or any crisis hour of the people.
Gopalganj Correspondent says: A seven day -long “Fire Service and Civil Defense Week-2019” begins at Fire Service and Civil Defence station in Gopalganj City on Wednesday. The theme of the week was “Awareness, preparation and training is the best way to cope with disasters”.
Fire Service and Civil Defence station in Gopalganj unit organized the Fire Service & Civil Defence Week-2019 and it continuing till November 12 this month.
Shahida Sultana, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Gopalganj inaugurated the beginning session at weeklong programme as the chief guest.
Mohammad Aslam Khan, Additional police super, Gopalganj, Mahabub Ali Khan, General secretary, district AL, Gopalganj and Chowdhury Imrul Hasan, Assistant Director, Drugs Control Department were presented as special guest.
Among others Mohammad Jane Alam, Deputy Assistant Director, Fire Service & Civil Defence station, Gopalganj, Mohammad Ariful Haque, Senior Station Officer, Fire Service & Civil Defence station, Gopalganj and all members of Gopalganj Fire Service & Civil Defence station were presented on the occasion.
After beginning session, a motor rally paraded main roads in the city to increasing public awareness.

FSCD organis ed an inaugural function at its office premises with mayor of Gaibandha municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as chief guest and Superintendent of Police Towhidul Islam and president of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shajada Anwarul Quadir, leader of FSCD Abu Taher and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman were among others , spoke on the occasion as special guests.
Earlier, Deputy Assistant Director of FSCD office Amirul Islam Sarker made a welcome speech and focused the activities of the department in details.
DC Abdul Matin said FSCD personnel first stand beside the people putting their lives at risk in the period of any natural disaster.
” The efficiency and capacity of the FSCD has largely increased than any previous time for taking pragmatic measures including supplying modern equipment by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” the DC.
He said present government has set up FSCD station in each upazila so that the fire men could respond quickly and extinguish the fire without delay.
The DC also urged FSCD officials to be more cordial and professional in performing their duties and building Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman .
Later, DC distributed certificates among the volunteers who received training on search, rescue, first aid and fire fighting under Volunteer Development Training programme.
Station officer Bakhtiar Uddin said, distribution of leaflets, discussion meeting, fire extinguishing , inspection, volunteers gathering, training exercise , and cultural functions are the highlights of the week long programme.
BSS from Rajshahi says: Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said the fire fighters have been playing a vital role towards mitigating various disasters including the natural ones.
He also said the capacity of fire service and civil defense members has been enhanced to a greater extent during the recent past years and hoped that the ability would be enhanced furthermore in the days to come.
Mayor Liton made this observation while inaugurating the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Week- 2019 on Wednesday as Chief Guest.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, the opening ceremony was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Miraj Uddin Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police Ifte Khayer Alam, FSCD Assistant Director Harunur Rashid and its retired FSCD Deputy Director Nurul Islam.
Mayor Liton urged the FSCD members to perform duties with utmost sincerity and honesty after the best uses of the knowledge acquired from various trainings for overall development of the nation.
Main motto of the fire service is speed, service and devotion and job nature of the FSCD is different to many other jobs. This matter should be kept in mind always, he added.
Liton mentioned that performing duties with devotion is a moral obligation towards substantial reduction of both life and assets losses caused by any fire incident.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very positive towards development of FSCD along with its modernization.
Liton recalled that the firefighters made supreme sacrifice at the time of serving people and the nation will remember their contribution forever. Mayor Liton and other guests witnessed rehearsal of extinguishing fires and mitigating various other disasters. They also reviewed the smartly turned out parade and took salute at the impressive march past.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Officials at a discussion have lauded efficiency of fire service and civil defense personnel for their emergency response and management systems in minimising loss of human lives and properties during disasters.
They expressed the view at the discussion arranged on the occasion of inaugurating the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Week-2019 at Fire Service and Rangpur Civil Defense Station (FSCDS) premises here on Wednesday.
Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam inaugurated observance of the week by releasing balloons and pigeons before leading a rally on the city streets as the chief guest.
Officials of the divisional and district administrations, Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), Rangpur FSCDS and voluntary originations, rovers, scouts and civil society members participated in the rally.
The fire service and civil defense personnel demonstrated an impressive march past and a mock drill of extinguishing fire, rescue operation on the occasion.
