Speakers at a function underscored the need for providing quality health services to the rural people to build a healthy nation and ensuring safe pregnancy to prevent mother and child deaths.
They made the comments yesterday while addressing an advocacy meeting on Community Clinic Activity in the district at the conference room of Civil Surgeon (CS) in Gaibandha.
With the financial support of CARE Bangladesh, district health department organized the function under “Strengthening the Community Support System to Improve Maternal and Infant Health” project.
Chief coordinator of Community Base Health Care (CBHC) Dr. Makhduma Nargis addressed the workshop as the chief guest and deputy commissioner M. Abdus Samad was present at the event as special guest.
With CS Dr Nirmalendu Chowdhury in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by superintendent of district hospital Dr. Bidhan Chandra Majumder, Phulchhari UNO Abdul Halim Tolstoy, Sadar upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Ayub Ali, district nutrition support officer of UNICEF M. Kamruzzaman, health education officer Abdul Hannan and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman while Phulchhari UHFPO Dr. ABM Abu Hanif was the moderator.
The speakers emphasized on strengthening the overall activity of the community clinics located at rural areas of the district through providing essential healthcare services to the people to attain the cherished goal of the clinics.
They also urged the authorities concerned to address the ongoing problems including electricity connectivity and tube well installation at the clinics side by side with repairing the infrastructures of the clinics in a bid run those properly.
Dr. Nargis asked all particularly the community clinic healthcare providers, health and family planning officials to motivate the people of the rural areas including hard to reach chars and provide essential healthcare services to them for building healthy nation.
