Speakers at a function said the persons with disabilities would have to be developed as worthy citizens of the country through providing them with all facilities, including healthcare, education and employment.
As people with disabilities are inseparable part of the society, they should be integrated with the mainstream of the society to ensure their empowerment, they opined.
They made the comments while addressing a discussion in the auditorium of public library in Gaibandha marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
District administration, Department of Social Services (DSS) and District Integrated Disability Service Centre jointly organised the function in cooperation with SKS Foundation, CDD, World Vision, GUK and Sarkerpara Disable and Autistic School of Sadar upazila.
