Call to popularize ICT-based edn

Popularization of the science and Information & Communication Technology (ICT)-based modern education among the young students has become imperative to accelerate pace of national development.
The views were expressed yesterday at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day Science &
ICT Fair- 2016 organised by the Rangpur Divisional Administration at Zila Parisahd
Community Centre in Rangpur.
The fair is being arranged to inspire the students of different educational institutions allover Rangpur division in science and technology-based education for more innovations befitting for the 21st century to attain sustainable national uplift.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon in a colourful ceremony as the chief guest with Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Minu Sheel in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abdul Mazid, Additional Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Rangpur Regional Director of the Directorate of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education DR AKM Sirajul Islam, attended as the special guests.
Deputy Director (Local Government) Sultana Parveen, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Revenue) Mostain Billah, ADC (Education & ICT) Priyosindhu Talukder, students, teachers, educationists, civil society members and elite were present.
Students of different secondary level educational institutions from allover Rangpur division have set up 28 stalls projecting different research activities, scientific innovations and ICT-based digitised technologies at the fair.
Taking part in the discussion, the speakers said the digitisation process using the ICT, computers and internet has been progressing successfully from the bottom to the top layers in building a middle income digital Bangladesh by 2021.
Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar said the common people are getting government services quickly in a hassle-free manner from the Union Digital Centres and web portals at the upazila and district levels by virtue of the digitised ICT facilities.
Minu Sheel put importance on popularising the science-and ICT- based education and technologies among the students to attain self-sufficiency in all spheres of national life for building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed Bangladesh by 2041.
The chief guest called for adoption of the science, technology-based education and ICT in the educational institutions as the advanced nations have achieved faster development in all sectors through innovations and adoption of the same from their advancements.
