State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian urged the owners of different sectors including readymade garment (RMG) to pay salary and bonus to workers before the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
“The government wants everyone can celebrate the Eid with their dear and near ones. Owners can play the key role for ensuring joyful celebration of Eid for workers,” she told newsmen on Monday after the 41st meeting of core committee on Crisis Management at the ministry conference room.
She also urged the owners to give Eid holidays for workers in phases to avoid traffic congestion in the highways.
Labour and Employment Secretary Ummul Hasna, Additional Secretaries Dr Mollah Jalal and Dr Rezaul Haque, Commerce Ministry Additional Secretary Tapon Kanti Ghosh, Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Inspector General Shib Nath Roy, BGMEA President Rubana Haque, Industrial Police Director General Abdus Salam, Jatiya Sramik League President Sukkur Mahmud, its Executive President Fazlul Haque Mantu and General Secretary Md Sirajul Islam, among others, attended it.
