Speakers at a discussion called for infusing dynamism into the cooperatives movement to materialize the spirit of the War of Liberation and ensure social security.
They urged for finding effective ways and means to attain strength and prosperity in every sphere of the national life and for making the cooperatives movement a total success.
The Department of Cooperatives and District Cooperatives Union jointly organized the discussion in Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in Rajshahi on Saturday to mark the 46th National Cooperatives Day-2017.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the discussion as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Mahbubor Rahman, Superintendent of Police Muazzem Hossain Bhuiyan and Joint Registrar of Department of Cooperatives Md Akhtaruzzaman also spoke.
Earlier, a colourful procession of officials and employees of different government departments, leaders and activists of cooperative organisations, socio-cultural activists, civil society members and the local elite paraded the city streets.
