Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury called upon the people to work together for materializing the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by achieving economic emancipation and making the country free from poverty.
The Speaker made this call as the chief guest while addressing a discussion marking the National Mourning Day on August 15, organized by Bangladesh Awami Lawyers’ Council at Supreme Court Bar auditorium on Sunday.
“The target of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) is not only to eliminate poverty, but also to achieve financial growth, and these were the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”, said Dr Shirin also the chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
Bangabandhu had worked throughout his life for achieving financial, economic and political freedom of the Bangalee nation, said the Speaker, adding that the nation should have to work for implementing the dream of Bangabandhu.
