Countrywide Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign for the children under five will be launched on August 5 . Massive preparations have been taken in different districts in this regard . Our correspondents and agencies report :
Sylhet Correspondent says: Nearly 5 lakh children under five years of age will be administered vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules on National Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign-17, on Saturday in the city and district.
The campaign will begin from 8:00am and continue uninterruptedly till 4:00pm.
Over 1125 supervisors in the 12 upazilas of the district will supervise the programme.
Over 5126 volunteers and health workers would be engaged for giving vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to the children aged from zero to 5 years.

Civil Surgeon Office arranged a press conference held at Kishoreanj General Hospital conferencee room on Wednesday with civil surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman in the chair, on the occssion of National Vitamin A Plus campaign 2017 to be held on August, 05 in the district and country as a whole.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Habib said that, a total of 59,500 babies aged between 6 and 11 months and 4,40,000 lakh babies between 12 and 59 months will administered with one dose of 111 unions in 13 upazilas of Kishoreganj district. It was addressed among others by Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mudibur Rahman, BMA District Secretary Dr. Abdul Wahab Badal, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Emran, Medical Officer Dr. Sajib, District Press President Mostafa Kamal, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Senior Journalist A.K Nasim Khan, Kishoreganj Press Club Secretary Saiful Malek Chowdhury and Journalist Abdul Kadir.
Dr. Mujibur Rahman duscussed about supreme importance of providing vitamin A+ capsule to every under five babies and said Vitamin A would help to babies in preventing various diseases to ensure their normal growth.

Dr Farzana said the main goal of the campaign is to keep the rate of night blindness less than one percent.
She said,” Vitamin A supplementation saves life of over 50,000 children each year.” A total of 1,51,350 babies aged under 12-59 months will be administered red-colour vitamin A capsule in Khulna district while a total of 81,067 babies will be administered red-colour capsule in Khulna city corporation(KCC) area during the campign.
Meanwhile, a total of 19,920 babies under 6-11 months will be administered blue-colour capsule in Khulna district while a total of 10,775 babies will be administered in KCC area.
A total of 5,526 volunteers will work at 2,393 centres during the campaign.

Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organised the meeting at city corporation hall room on the occasion of National Vitamin A Plus Campaign- 2017 to be held on August 5 in the city as elsewhere in the district and country as a whole.
Mayor of Rangpur Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu attended the meeting as the chief guest.
With Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Hossain Azad in the chair, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Mozammel Hossain addressed the function as special guest.
Chief Medical Officer of RpCC Dr Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz, its Health Inspector Abdul Kaiyum, among others, addressed the meeting participated by City Councilors, health officials, supervisors and volunteers of RpCC.
Dr Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz said 33 category-1, seven category-2 and four category-3 supervisors and 634 volunteers will provide Vitamin A Plus Capsules at 295 outreach centres in all 33 wards of the city from 8 am to 4 pm on the day.
“A total of 19,500 babies aged between six and 11 months and 1.07 lakh babies between 12 and 59 months will be administered with one dose of one lakh unit Vitamin A Plus Blue Capsule and one dose of two lakh unit of Vitamin A Red Capsule each respectively,” he said.

The campaign will begin at 8am at 1,856 centres and continue till 4pm. A total of 1,744 outreach vaccination centres will be set up by Rajshahi Civil Surgeon office.
Over 3,712 volunteers, 376 family welfare assistants and 241 health
assistants would be engaged for giving vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to the children aged from zero to 5 years in the district.

BSS from Manikganj says: Nearly 1,79,621 children of the age group- zero to five years- of all the seven upazilas of the district will given vitamin A Plus capsules on August 5 as part of the nationwide campaign on reducing child mortality.
This was disclosed at a briefing on National Vitamin A Plus Campaign at Manikganj Press Club on Tuesday.
The civil surgeon (CS) office arranged the briefing for local journalists to make the campaign successful.
The programme will begin at 8am and continue till 4pm on the day without any break. A total of 3,386 health and family planning personnel, including volunteers and supervisors, will be engaged in the programme through 1,693 centers in the district.
CS Dr. Khurshid Alam told the briefing that special initiatives have been taken to bring all the children of char and remote areas of the district under this programme in cooperation with some NGOs.
