Call to make edn as thrust sector for national interests

Speakers at a view-sharing meeting on unequivocally called for making the country’s education and the primary education in particular as the thrust sector for the sake of infusing dynamism in all the development sectors.
Terming the education as power house they said cherished development of the nation is not possible by keeping the sector neglected or lagging behind.
Budgetary allocation needs to be enhanced for the sector for its substantial and sustainable development.
Shaw-Unnayan and Campaign for Mass Education (CAMPE) jointly organised the discussion styled “Education for All and National Budget: Current Trend and Our Expectations” held yesterday at Master Chef Hall Room in Rangpur.
“Fund the future: Education Rights Now” was the main theme of the
discussion organized to mark the education affairs global week-2016.
Principal of Court Degree College Prof Shafiqur Rahman Badsha and Vice
Principal of Bangabandhu Degree College Md Quamruzzaman addressed the
discussion as chief and special guests respectively.
Education Officer of Department of Primary Education Dr Sabrina Anam
presented a keynote on the issue with Mustafizur Rahman Khan, President of
Shaw Unnayan, in the chair.
School Managing Committee President Nurul Haque, Transgender Community
representative Mohona, Regional Coordinator of ADAB Obaidur Rahman and
College teachers Akhtar Banu and Jogen Sarker also spoke.
The speakers put forward a set of recommendations and stressed the need for
political commitment to make the country’s education as thrust sector.
Many of the national problems including over-population, poverty and
unemployment could be solved if the light of education reached towards all.
They called for qualitative and quantitative girls education especially in
the rural areas for the sake of overall rural and urban development.
The rural girls educational institutions should be transformed into time-
fitting as well as centre of excellence through bringing those under close
monitoring and supervision.
Proper implementation of the newly formulated national education policy has
become indispensable for making the country’s educational sector more
effective and time-fitting.
Besides, formulation of unified education system and integrated curriculum
is needed for ensuring qualitative and quantitative primary education for all
the children.
Furthermore, emphasis should be given on appointing eligible teachers in
the educational institutions through freeing the recruitment process from all
sorts of politicization and other unethical money transaction in the greater
interest of ensuring quality improvement of education.
