Call to keep children away from drugs by counselling

Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah in a function underscored the need for counseling the children properly to keep them away from drug taking aimed at building a happy and peaceful nation.
“Every guardian should talk to their kids openly about the bad impact of drugs in all stages of life particularly the youth and an emphasis be given for taking care about the children and their whereabouts after evening”, he said.
Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah made the observations while addressing an inaugural function of USS Madakasakti Niramoy Kendra (UMNK) at Professor Colony in Gaibandha recently as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin, police super Muhammad Towhidul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr AMAkteruzzaman, and mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Adv Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon spoke at the event as the special guests while Md. Shahadat Hssain Mondal, president of the Udayan Swabolambe Sangstha (USS), a local non-government voluntary organization presided over the function.
The children should be groomed with various types of co-curricular activities like reading books, physical exercise, sports, and cultural events side by side with the academic lessons so that the kids could pass their busy times with the doings.
The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had already established drug addiction treatment centers across the country to return the drug addicted to the normal life and mainstream of the development as they could contribute much to nation building, he added.
The deputy speaker said the government also took initiatives to stop the drug taking and trading in the country considering the healthy life of the young generation and building prosperous and enriched nation. on their skills and efficiency under rehabilitation programme.
