BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Presidium Member and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun called upon all to take a pledge to keep away from state power those who burn people to death and patronize militancy.
She made the call on Monday while addressing a discussion meeting in the city marking the 68th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangamata Parishad organized the meeting at the Jatiya Press Club VIP lounge with Parishad President Mozaffar Hossain Paltu in the chair.
Syed Rokeya Begum, AL Sub-committee Assistant Secretary MA Karim and AL UAE unit Convener Engineer Monowar Hossain also spoke on the occasion. A birthday cake was cut after the discussion.
Sahara Khatun said Sheikh Hasina had emerged as a beacon during the crucial days of the Awami League.
Sheikh Hasina’s birthday is being observed not only in Bangladesh, but also in other countries of the world, she added.
Mozaffar Hossain Paltu said the killers of 1975 had tried to eliminate the Awami League from the soil of Bangladesh, but their expectations were not fulfilled.
It is the killers who have been eliminated from Bangladesh, he said.
