Port City Chittagong simply declared as Commercial Capital by the previous regimes and the incumbent Government without any infrastructural development for functioning as commercial capital of the country.
In every quarter utters word of commercial capital but not in black and white. This was disclosed by the speakers in the meeting of Commercial Capital Implementation Parishad (CCIP) held at its office in the city with Acting President Principal Dr Abdul Karim in the chair.
The meeting urged the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking necessary steps for implementing the recognition of Commercial capital so declared earlier.In the discussion meeting of the ongoing development activities of Chittagong under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, this demand of commercial capital concept was placed before the PM.
The speakers in the discussions said following the cordial initiatives of the Prime Minister, the infrastructural development work is progressing fast in the port city . Speakers urges the PM to take pragmatic steps to relocate the Ministry/Banks / Head office of commercially important offices in Chittagong .
The meeting also demanded implementation of commercial capital concept under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The meeting also demanded quick implementations of the mega projects of Chittagong including Karnaphuli tunnel, Bay terminal, twin city project marine drive road, LNG terminal, Deep seaport, coal fired power plants and specialized economic zone of Mirsarai for turning this zone as commercial hub of the country as well as South East Asia.
It was told that the geographical location of Chittagong is very much important for the investors and bright scope of building tourism hub of South East Asia.
CCIP President Principal Dr Abdul Karim and Secretary General Dr.Saleh Ahmed Suleman hailed the Chitagong Chamber of Commerce President Mabubul Alam for a decision taken very recently for developing Special Economic Zone on their own fund which is the first ever decision of any trade body of the country.
Among others, CCIP Vice President Kazi Golap Rahman, Secretry General Saleh Ahmed Suleman, Patron Md Farid. Ziauddin Khaled Chowdhury, Coordinator Bupen Das, former councilor Md. Shahidul Alam, Ahsanullah Jahedi, Mitul Das, Md. Musa, Md. Mohsin, ASM Jafar, MA Mannan, Md. Kutubuddin, Alamgir Rana, Ershad Hossain were present on the occasion.
