Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury underscored the need for highlighting outstanding contribution of women in different fields of development through research works.
She said, “Women are performing brilliantly in every sector including agriculture, economics and politics. Contribution of many women is not recognized although they deserve it. Historians should identify women’s contribution in their research works.”
Dr Shirin came up with the observation on Saturday while addressing the 49th annual International Conference of Bangladesh Itihas Parisad, at teacher-Student Center (TSC) here as the chief guest.
“The life of our Prime Minister is an extraordinary example of the history of females’ success in South Asia,” Dr Shirin said, adding she struggled for democracy, establishing human rights and developing people’s living standard.
The Speaker said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to built a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni inaugurated the conference which was held with the theme “Females in History: South Asia Context”.
