Call to help treatment of Thalassemia patients

Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Editor of The Daily Observer, called upon the well-to-do people of the society to come forward with a helping hand for the treatment of the Thalassemia patients of the country.
Iqbal Sobhan came up with the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the 12th founding anniversary of the Thalassemia Welfare Centre held here at the Chittagong Press Club auditorium on Friday afternoon.
Thalassemia is a form of inherited (congenital) blood disorder. People with Thalassemia produce less haemoglobin and have fewer circulating red blood cells than normal, which results in mild or severe anaemia. Terming blood test as essential for every citizen, the PM’s Media Advisor said that he would try his level best to formulate a law to make blood test available for all citizens of the country under the initiative of the government. Presided over by Helaluddin Chowdhury, the function was addressed by Abu Sufian, Sarfaraz Khan Chowdhury and Shafiul Azam.
