Karmojibi Nari (KN), a platform working for women’s rights, has urged for a strong unity to bring an end to all sorts of the discrimination, repression and violence against the women.
The KN in a discussion meeting on “Mass Media’s Role to Increase Women’s Participation in Trade Union” at the National Press Club in the city on Tuesday gave the call.
KN’s Vice-President Umme Hasan Jhalmal chaired the function, while Assistant Executive Director of Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary of Samajtantrik Sramik Front Rajekuzzaman Ratan, Journalist Yeasmin Peu, Trade Union leaders Orundhuti Rani, Murshida Akhter, Lima Ferdous and Alamgir Rony delivered lectures, among others.
Director of Karmojibi Nari presented a keynote paper in the discussion. In the keynote, she pointed out mass media’s role to establish the rights of women.
Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed said that woman leadership should come forward to play a vital role against the discrimination and repression on women. He emphasized on unity of the platforms working for women.
He called upon all to forge a strong resistance against the discrimination and repression on women. “All of us have to provide all-out support to the women for establishing woman rights,” he said.
Rajekuzzaman Ratan said that the women would have to take leadership of Trade Union and other sectors. For this, they should first build leadership quality.
