Call to forge social movement against corruption

Several thousand people, including students, at a mass-gathering pledged to forge a social movement against corruption, child marriage and drug-addiction to rid the people of all spheres of the social menaces.
More than 10 thousand people took oath to participate in community resistance and carry out effective campaign for prevention of corruption and all other social ills to free the nation from the curses.
District Administration and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Rajshahi jointly organized the gathering on Naohata High School premises under Paba Upazila of Rajshhai with the main thrust of making the people united against the crimes.
Ayen Uddin, MP, and Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin attended the meeting as the chief guest and special guest respectively with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Selim Hossain in the chair.
Divisional Director of ACC Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, Divisional Additional Director of Department of Drugs and Narcotics Control Mujibur Rahman Patwari, Upazila Chairman Begum Khairunnessa and Vice Chairman Ashraful Haque also spoke.
The speakers said institutional corruptions have to be checked first before taking lawful actions against persons who would be found involved in corruption and other social menaces.
They said though elimination of corruption is not an easy task, all concerned have to work together to curb corruption alongside other social problems.
They said local level corruption could be reduced to a great extent through ensuring administration transparency and accountability availing the advantage of free flow of information.
