Bangabandhu's birth day observed amid festivity: Call to follow his ideology

The 97th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day- 2016 was observed yesterday amid huge festivity and enthusiasm.
The district administrations, local Awami League , its front and associate organisations and socio-cultural organisations observed the Day through various programmes. Our correspondents and agencies report:
Rajshahi Correspondent reports: The 97th birth day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2016 was observed in the city and its adjacent areas here yesterday amid much festivity with a call to follow his ideology.
Marking the day, district administration organised a colourful rally from the Laboratory School premises that ended at Shilpakala Academy ground after parading some of the thoroughfares. Large number of people including schoolboys and girls with colourful dresses joined the rally.
A discussion meeting on Bangabandhu was held at the Shilpakala Academy hall room. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.
DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Iqbal Bahar, Commissioner of RMP Md Shamsuddin and its Additional Commissioner Sarder Tamij Uddin, among others, also spoke.
The district administration and Bangladesh Shishu Academy also arranged a daylong programme including competitions on painting, handwriting, essay and extempore speech for children paying rich tribute to the Father of the Nation.
Marking the birthday anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, local socio-cultural and political organisations arranged separate programmes in the city and upazila headquarters.
The programmes included discussions, cultural programme, screenings of documentaries.
Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations also celebrated the day through a daylong programme.
The daylong programme included hoisting of national and party flags, garlanding portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders and holding discussions.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The 97th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day- 2016 was observed here yesterday amid huge festivity and enthusiasm.
The district administration, Awami League , it’s associate organisations, City Corporation, Shishu Academy, Shilpokola Academy, Islamic Foundation, Muktijoddha Sangshad, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela, educational institutions and socio-cultural organisations observed the day through various programmes.
The programmes included placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, cake cutting ceremonies, children’s gatherings and rallies, processions of unprivileged children, drawing, handwriting, essay and ready speech competitions, screening of documentary films on Bangabandhu, discussions and cultural functions.
The local news papers published special supplementary. Special prayers and Munajats were offered at the religious institutions.
The observance began through placing wreaths at Bangabandhu Mural at Bangabandhu Square in the city and releasing balloons there in the morning.
City Mayor Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Acting Divisional Commissioner Minu Sheel, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, it’s General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city AL President Shafiar Rahman Shafi and it’s General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal placed their wreaths at the Bangabandhu’s Mural.
Later, leaders of AL, it’s associate organisations including Bangladesh Chhatra League , government officials, NGOs, socio-cultural and political organizations placed their wreaths.
The district administration brought out the main rally and organised main discussion meeting on Bangabandhu at Town Hall auditorium in the city with Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar in the chair.
Acting Divisional Commissioner Minu Sheel addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Acting Police Super Abdullah Al Faruk, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, city AL Vice-presidents Delwar Hossain Talukder and Shah Nabiullah Panna, spoke among others.
BSS from Faridpur reports: The 97th birthday of the Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was observed yesterday here in a befitting manner as elsewhere across the country.
The two-day observance program chalked out by the local district administration began on yesterday for the children at the premises of DC office organized by District Shishu Academy and district administration.
Jhenaidah Corresposndent adds: The people of Jhenaidah observed the 96th birth anniversary and National Children’s Day with a new look and new idea to show respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Thursday.
 Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital authority as a part of their annual activities organised the programme titled Big Cleaning Day.
Presoded over by Civil Surgeon of Jhenaidah Dr. Abdus Salam, Deputy Commissioner Mahbubul Alam Talukder attended the programme as chief guest. Jhenaidah Municipality Mayor, also the General Secretary of ruling Awami League Saidul Karim Mintu, Bangladesh Medical Association General Secretary Dr. Dulal Kumar Chakravarty and Superintendent of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital Dr. Ayub Ali among others attended as specials guests.
Senior consultant of Guieny Dr. Emdadul Haque, BMA Joint Secretary Dr. Rashed Al Mamun and ex mayor of Jhenaidah municipality Anisur Raman Khoka among others spoke in the occassion.
The speakers urged upon the people to keep their private and office premises clean to make it fit for safe movement of the children who will lead the country.
Dupchanchia (Bogra) Correspondent adds: The 96th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was celebrated across the upazila on Thursday with due respect hoisting of the national flags atop educational institutions and AL offices at 6.30 am.
The Day was begun placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 7.00 am.
Speakers said in a discussion meeting marking the Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary at Habibur Rahman Shathi auditorium presided over Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahed Parvez while President of District Unit Mizanur Rahman Khan Shelim speaking as chief guess.
