Call to extend cooperation for visually impaired persons

White Cane Safety Day, as part of the global program, was observed in Faridpur through holding rallies and discussion meeting.
To mark the occasion, Social Services Department brought out rally from in front the local DC office. The rally paraded the surrounding areas to create awareness among the people about safety of the visually impaired persons who need our utmost care particularly while traveling.
Following the rally a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of DC of Faridpur. ADM of Faridpur Md Eradul Haque attended the meeting as the chief guest while deputy director of Social Services Department Md. Ali Ahsan chaired.
The programme was addressed, among others, by ASP ABM Mahiuddin, NGO personnel Kazi Ashraful Hassan, Asma Akhtar Mukta, ANM Fazlul Hadi Sabbir, Abdul Jalil and visually impaired Abdul Kuddus.
Speakers addressing the meeting urged all to extend their all kinds of help and cooperation for the visually impaired persons who are deprived of their valuable power sight.
The speakers also sought cooperation of various non government organizations for the welfare of the impaired people.
The chief guest in his speech urged all to remain by the side of the visually impaired persons not as sympathy but as a moral duty to the society.
He also assured that at the time of issuing driving license to the new drivers they will be given special training on the importance of white cane on the roads.
Few impaired persons were given white canes on behalf of Social Services Department.
