State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Naryan Chandra Chanda stressed on ensuring safe food for all side by side with enhancing the country’s food output.
He was addressing as the chief guest a discussion meeting at Shaheed Zobayed Ali auditorium of Dumuria Upazila in Khulna on Thursday marking the World Food Day 2014.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Khulna organised the discussion meeting with Khulna deputy commissioner Anis Mahmud in the chair.
Dumuria Upazila Parishad chairman Khan Ali Mansur and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khulna Md Habibur Rahman were present as special guests.
Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Khulna Quazi Anisuzzaman delivered the address of welcome.
The Minister said the country has achieved success in agricultural sector as the government had taken various steps in this regard.
Farmers are playing vital roles for enhancing the country’s GDP, he said adding that public representatives and non-government organizations should come forward for increasing food production, he said.
Other speakers called upon all concerned to work together to ensure the country’s food security keeping in mind the adverse impact of climate change.
A good number of government and non-government officials, political leaders, NGO personnel, civil society members, journalists and a large number of city dwellers attended the meeting.
