Speakers at a discussion stressed the need for ensuring fundamental rights especially the health, social and legal rights of the transgender people for uplifting their living and livelihood condition.
They viewed the society, as a whole, should come forward with a positive attitude toward the extreme socially excluded people for their coexistence in society with decent livelihood.
City Social Service Office organized the discussion yesterday at its premises in Rajshahi on the occasion of distributing grants cheque among 35 transgender and 10 dalit community people.
Akhtar Jahan, MP, addressed the programme as the chief while Deputy Director of Department of Social Service (DSS) Rubina Yeasmin attended as special guests with city social service officer Abdullah Al Firoj in the chair.
Earlier, the transgender people were imparted skill development training here for improving their living and livelihood condition. DSS organized a 50-daylong training for them in its regional training.
