Speakers at a seminar on Wednesday urged all concerned, including the government, to ensure public security during the forthcoming national election.
The made the call while addressing the seminar titled ‘Upcoming Election and Public Security’ arranged by Jago Bangla Foundation (JBF) at the Jatiya Press Club.
Mentioning that Bangladesh has made huge progress in several fields, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad
said ensuring public security through maintaining a peaceful environment for the election should be the prime concern of the government.
He also urged all to act responsibly to that end.
The renowned economist called for instilling the Liberation War spirit in youths.
National University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid lauded the Awami League government, saying, “It’s pleasant that every party is going to join the 11th parliamentary elections. All credit goes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for building a truly democratic state.”
He also denounced the atrocities unleashed by the opposition before the 2014 national election.
World University VC Abdul Mannan Chowdhury urged all classes of people to do their part to maintain public security and ensure safety-be it election or any other occasion.
Former Dhaka University VC Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said everyone must ensure that there exists a stable election environment in the country while the responsibility mostly lies on the Election Commission.
