Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Saturday urged the authorities concerned to confiscate movable and immovable properties of the war criminals and compensate those to the victims’ families.
“Confiscate the properties and institutions of the war criminals’ . . . compensate those to the victims’ families,” he told a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here.
Bangladesh Awami Muktijoddha Projanma League arranged the discussion on “Resist bad politics of BNP-Jamaat” with president of the organization Advocate Asaduzzaman Durjoy in the chair.
Shajahan Khan, also a valiant freedom fighter, called for cancelling citizenships of the inheritors’ of war criminals.
He criticized the BNP for its destructive role in 2015 saying, BNP has patronized Jamaat and other elements to unleash terror acts across the country in the name of hartal and blockade.
Referring to BNP chairperson’s interest to participate in the upcoming general elections, the shipping minister said, “You (Begum Zia) first compensate to the affected families’ of last year and then take part in the polls.
The people, he said, are aware of their misdeeds and they are committed to resist all sorts of conspiracies against the state.
Shajahan Khan called upon the new generation to forge unity against the quarter which is trying to destabilize the country.
Projanma League adviser Syeda Rokeya Begum, acting general secretary Mohammad Quamrul Hasan, general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana, among others, spoke on the occasion.
