Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam called upon all the forces loyal to the war of liberation to build united resistance against militancy and terrorism.
“The defeated forces of 1971 have started hatching conspiracies again to tarnish the international image of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina achieved over the years following Bangladesh’s progress in socio-economic and political fields and the country’s self-reliance in food output as well as construction of the mighty Padma Bridge even after withdrawal of financing by the World Bank,” he said.
The minister said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by his ministry on the premises of the ‘Khadya Bhaban’ in the city in observance of the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Quamrul Islam said, “The joy (merriment) of victory is temporary but the disgrace of defeat is permanent. The defeated forces of 1971 assassinated Bangabandhu and most of his family members on the fateful night of 1975 to take revenge of their defeat in the war of liberation. The August 15 carnage was unprecedented in political history of any country in the world.”
Food Secretary AM Badruddoza presided over the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Barrister Fazle Noor Tapas, MP and Director General of the Food Directorate Faez Ahmed.
