RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a workshop here have stressed the need for creating a social movement against human trafficking aiming to check the social menace. They said the district, upazila and union counter trafficking committees should be effective and intensified to stop human trafficking in the country. The speakers came up with the observations at the workshop titled, ‘Role and Responsibilities of District, Upazila and Union Counter Trafficking Committees’ at Manda Upazila Parishad conference hall late yesterday. Sachetan, Rajshahi and Bangladesh Counter Trafficking-in-Persons Prpgramme jointly organised the workshop in association with USAID and Winrock International. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Faisal Ahmed, Deputy Director of Department of Youth Development Abdul Mannan and Upazila Women Affairs Officers Fazlur Rahman and Milufar Yeasmin, and Youth Development Officers Sabbir Ahmed and Paritash Kumar Mondal, among others, spoke at the workshop. The speakers said victims of trafficking need access to their families and social integration, so they can cope with their plights and vulnerabilities and get back to their normal life, reports BSS.
