The International Customs Day was observed in Benapole Customs House on Sunday. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain MP was the chief guest in the inaugural programmes.
Sheik Afil Uddin MP inaugurated the rally. Later, a large procession was brought out and it visited the Benapole Port Area. Thousands of leaders and activities from various organisations, including Custom and Port Officials, Police, BGB, C&F Agents.
Association, Transport Association, Public Representatives, business leaders, political leaders, administration participated in the rally. Later a seminar was held on Customs Auditorium. Benapole Customs Commissioner Belal Hossain Chowdhury presided over the function,

 Special guests are Sheikh Afil Uddin MP , National Revenue Board Member Meftah Uddin Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Jashore Mohammad Shafiul Arif, District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, Additional Commissioner of Customs DR. Syed Neyamul Islam, Joint Commissioner Shahidul Islam, C&F Agents Association President Mofizur Rahman Sajan.
After the meeting, 10 businessmen were awarded the prestigious crest and certificates for their special role in revenue collection.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here on Sunday unanimously underscored the need for boosting revenue earnings for the country’s overall development. They said proper functioning of the country’s business sector and other trade-related activities are the precondition to uplift the economic growth.
There is no alternative to expand trade and business to a greater extent taking the country forward on the way to development.
Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate organised the discussion at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium in the city to mark the International Customs Day-2020.
“Customs Fostering Sustainability for People, Prosperity and the Planet” was the main theme of the discussion.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Lutfor Rahman, Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, in the chair.Additional Divisional Commissioner Dr Abdul Mannan, Commissioner of

Ullah, BGB Sector Commander Col Tuhin Masum, RAB-5 Director Mahfuzur Rahman and President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Moniruzzaman also spoke.
Laying stress on enhancing revenue collection from both internal and external sources, Mayor Liton said it could be an effective means of reducing dependency on foreign aid for executing the uplift programmes.
In observance of the day, officials and staff of the commissionerate organised a huge rally that paraded the city’s main thoroughfares, carrying placards, banners and festoons.
