Call to aware, encourage people about e-services

Speakers at an orientation workshop urged the digital centre entrepreneurs to make the public in general aware and encourage about the e-services for successful implementation of digital Bangladesh and Vision 2021.
They also asked them to promote people’s participation to the online-based services so that they can derive total benefits of those.
The speakers came up with the observation at an orientation workshop at conference hall of Deputy Commissioner in Rajshahi. District Information Office and district administration jointly organized the meeting in association with Access to Information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister’s Office.
More than 123 entrepreneurs of union digital centres (UDCs), pourashava digital centres (PDCs) and city digital centres (CDCs) joined the meeting expressing their firm commitment to reach government services to the people’s doorsteps.
Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif addressed the programme as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Parvej Raihan in the chair.
Deputy Director of Local Government Division Dr Dewan Shahriar Firoj, Deputy Director of District Information Office Md Shamsuzzaman and Assistant Programmer Nazmul Alam also spoke.
The meeting discussed ways and means on how to form human media club by UDC entrepreneurs for reaching services to people’s doorstops and screening documentary on the government’s massive development activities. The speakers urged the entrepreneurs to put in their best efforts to make the UDCs more popular and dynamic so that they can earn more through providing services to the grassroots people.
Terming them as worthy citizens they mentioned if they can earn a lot of money they would be rewarded for it as the people would get information services through them.
Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud said the government has been working relentlessly for turning each UDC into a mini business process outsourcing (BPO) centers.
The info leaders will provide grassroots information to the people as well as run e-commerce to buy and sell various commodities including locally produced agricultural products and freelancing outsourcing involving 5 to 10 educated youths.
The entrepreneurs should discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for supplementing the government endevour.
