Call for using modern technology in maize cultivation

Experts at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day training course Thursday called for adopting modern agriculture technologies and applying more organic fertilisers in maize cultivation to get increased production of the crop.
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) under its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) has been organising the two-day training course at its Madila Assistance Centre in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on ‘Maize Training through Modern Production Technology.’
A total of 25 extremely poor and distressed farmers of different villages under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila have been participating in the training course that will be concluded tomorrow (Friday).
The training is being arranged to provide the farmers with practical knowledge on modern agriculture technologies for increasing production of hygienic crops including maize, combating pests’ attacks and use of organic pesticides and fertilisers.
Fulbari Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad SM Nasim Hossain attended and addressed the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest with Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of the NGO Mr. Arbindu Roy in the chair.
Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Badal Sangma presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The agriculture experts said there is no alternative to adoption of the latest and modern agriculture technologies for producing more crops at lower costs side by side maintaining environmental and ecological balance in the nature.
The chief guest stressed for adopting modern agriculture technologies in place of traditional methods and ensuring optimal use of organic fertilisers and organic pesticides to enhance chemical-free maize production for better health of children.
He suggested the farmers for expanded adoption of the modern agriculture technologies in maize farming also to improve environment, ecology and bio-diversity side by side reducing farming cost to get increased production of hygienic maize and more profits.
