Call for resisting sexual harassment

Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr Farzana Islam urged everyone for resisting sexual harassment on women.
She came up with the remarks on Thursday while speaking at a view-exchange meeting jointly organised by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and Student Welfare and Counseling
Centre of the university at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium on the campus marking the International Women Repression Prevention Fortnight-2018 and the World Human Rights Day.
Addressing the function, JU VC said, “Prevention of sexual harassment is a social movement. We must have to forget the discrimination between men and women and consider ourselves only as human being.” “If we want to wake up, we will have to know, listen and read. We have to create a situation under our control. To prevent such crimes like sexual harassment, we will have to be physically and mentally capable,” she added. Presided over by Director of Students Welfare and Counseling Centre Professor Rasheda Akhter, JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and President of the central committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Ayesha Khanm addressed the function among others.
Students and teachers of different departments and institutes took part in discussion.
