Call for making community clinics properly functional

Speakers at a discussion meeting unequivocally called for improving the essential services of community clinics for ensuring healthcare services to the grassroots people for their betterment.
To this end, they viewed the district and upazila level officials and others concerned should put in their level best efforts so that the rural people can derive total benefits of the community clinics.
They were addressing a view-sharing meeting with Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers and Community Healthcare Providers at DASCOH office compound in Rajshahi metropolis yesterday afternoon.
DASCOH organized the ceremony in association with Public Health Improvement Initiative Rajshahi (PHIIR) Project and Swiss Red Cross. Large number of health officials, community health providers and others concerned attended the event.
Dr Makhduma Nargis, Additional Secretary to Health and Family Welfare Ministry and Project Director of Revitalization of Community Healthcare Initiative in Bangladesh, addressed the function as chief guest with Civil Surgeon Dr Abdus Sobhan in the chair.
To mark the ceremony, 59 selected community clinics in the region were awarded and provided televisions as recognition of their laudable contribution to this filed.
Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Country Representative of Swiss Red Cross Amitabh Sharma and Divisional Director of Health Dr Hedayetul Islam also spoke.
During his welcome address, Akramul Haque, Chief Executive of DASCOH, said the PHIIR project is being implemented with the main thrust of elevating the essential services of the community clinics through proper functioning of the community groups and the clinics.
