Call for implementing power projects on time

The Prime Minister’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Advisor Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, Saturday asked the projects directors and officials concerned to implement all power projects in time for a smooth electricity supply to its valued users.
“All projects related to power will have to be implemented with sincere efforts and timely,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at an inaugural ceremony of a training programme on project management at Bidyut Bhaban in the city. The advisor said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undertaken a good number power projects to increase production of electricity and for providing the same to all citizens by 2021 at a reasonable price.
Secretary of Power Division Monowar Islam presented a paper titled ‘Project Management-Role of Project Directors’ at the programme.
Over one hundred projects directors and deputy project directors attended the day-long training programme.
According to a ministry official, around 71 per cent people have access to electricity across the country and the government has given top priority to the development of the sector considering its importance in the overall development.
