The World Tourism Day was observed in a befitting manner in Sylhet Divisional on Tuesday. A colourful rally depicting expansion of Tourism was brought out parading the many through fanes in Sylhet city. On the occasion a discussion meeting was also held at Sylhet DC’s Conference room in which ADC (Gen.) Mr. Shahidul Islam Chowdhury was in the chair. The rally was addressed Sylhet Tourism Club President Humayun Kabir Liton, ATAB President Abdul Jabbar Jalil and columnist Aftab Chowdhury.
The speakers stressed for the development of tourism in Sylhet having a unique combination to land diversity, mineral diversity, crop diversity and bio-diversity.
They opined if the communication is developed, Jafloong, daughter of Nature, Companigonj, Madhab Kunda Cascade, Ratergul and Mayaban swamp forests could become important spots for tourism and holiday making.

The observations came at a post-rally discussion arranged in observance of the World Tourism Day- 2016 by the authorities of Rangpur Parjatan Motel at its conference room in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
The district administration and Sonic Prime Group extended cooperation to the Rangpur Parjatan Motel authorities in observing the day with this year’s theme of ‘Tourism for All: Promoting Universal Accessibility.’
Earlier, a huge colourful rally, participated by students, teachers, youths, government and non-government officials and employees, civil society members and journalists, was brought out from Rangpur Parjatan Motel and paraded the city streets.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Rahat Anwar led the rally and attended the discussion as the chief guest with Acting Manager of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Motiar Rahman in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim, Administrative Officer of Sonic Prime Group Aminul Islam, Accounts Officer of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Bimal Kumar Sarker and Assistant Commercial Officer Mashiur Rahman spoke as the special guests.
In their speeches, the speakers discussed the tremendous prospect of tourism sector prevailing in Rangpur region where a large number of places with historical interests, archaeological sites and charming tourist spots located.
The chief guest narrated the massive initiatives and steps taken by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for exploring prevailing prospect in the country’s tourism industry to further strengthen the national economy.
“There are huge potential places in Rangpur region to further develop the tourism sector to attract travelers from both home and abroad though the prospect it is yet to be flourished through more private sector initiatives,” he said.
BSS from Faridpur adds: The World Tourism Day observed here on Tuesday in a befitting manner through holding rallies and discussion meeting to boost up tourism in the district.
In the morning, a colorful rally participated by students, officials and various section of people was brought out from the premises of DC office and paraded the streets of the town voicing slogans to boost up tourism in the district.
It was followed by a discussion meeting held at the conference room of DC. ADC (Rev) Dr. KM Kamruzzaman Selim attended the meeting as the chief guest while ADM Eradul Haque in the chair.
The discussion started with the slogan “Tourism for all Promoting Universal”. Prof. Rezvi Zaman made a power point presentation projecting a number of tourist spots in the districts.
Speakers stressed the need for flourishing and patronization of tourist spots with necessary facilities which can be attract to foreign tourists that would help contribute in our GDP. They said that tourism is an industry as the present government has declared 2016 as the year of Tourism.
But it cannot attract foreign tourists until we can make the spots attractive with necessary faculties, speakers said. They urged upon the concerned agencies to enrich the tourist spots with all facilities including communication system and also ensuring security, they opined.
