Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association(BSBA) emphasised the need for building environment friendly ship braking yard to save the country from environment pollusion. This was told at a workshop on ‘Waste Management and Resistance of oil Refining ‘ jointly arranged by BSBA and creative Consultant of Netherlands at a city posh hotel yesterday.
Netherland Embassy in Bangladesh patronized the workshop, sources said. President of BSBA MA Taher presided over it.
He said some European countries are opposing the ship recycling industry in Bangladesh and BSBA is utmosly trying to gain their reputation of environment friendly recycling shipbreaking industry.
As such to sustain these ship recycling industry, BSBA will appoint Sustainable Finance Advisory consultants as advisor to this sector. Among others, PHP Director Md. Jahirul Islam, BSBA executive member Maksudur Rahman, Mr. Dharmesh Jony of Creative Consultants, officials of Netherlands Development Bank, BSBA members yard owners, managers, yard foreman etc. participated the workshop, a release said.
