Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a colourful rally, discussion and documentary film marking the World Tourism Day-2018 on Thursday.
Aiming to boost contribution to the country’s national economy, the government is formulation a ‘Practical and Application’ based Tourism Master Plan (TMP) to explore all the untapped potentiality. Which is the also a motto of World Tourism Day.
A discussion meeting on Tourism and Digital Transformation held at Local Collectorate Conference room yesterday morning. Deputy Secretary & ADC (General) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil presided over the meeting.
It was addressed among others by PP Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mostafizur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Assistant Director of Labour Anwarul Islam, NDC Shariful Islam and Magistrate Mir Mohammad Al Kamah Tomal.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil said that Bangladesh has also taken initiative for inclusive tourism to ensure sustainable development of the sector.
Later, a colourful rally was brought out in the town marking the day.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here yesterday unequivocally called for boosting the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in tourism sector for its successful flourishing.
They mentioned that there are enormous potentialities of tourism industry in the region and noted that the public and private sectors concerned should come forward and work together so that the potentialities could be utilized through the best uses of ICT.
District Administration and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) jointly organized the discussion at Parjatan Motel conference hall in observance of World Tourism Day-2018.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Abdul Kader, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Alamgir Kabir, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat and Brac District Representative Jahedul Islam addressed the meeting. The discussants observed that substantial and sustainable promotion of tourism sector through the best uses of its existing potentiality can be the vital means of infusing dynamism into regional economy. Side by side with the government’s efforts, private sector investment has become an urgent need to flourish the sector for earning foreign currencies.
In his remarks, Abdul Kader said tourism has been identified as the prioritised sector for overall economic development of Bangladesh.
He urged the authorities concerned to find out valuable sites and take necessary steps to protect and conserve those through proper renovation.
BSS from Panchagarh adds: Government officials here yesterday day stressed the need for exploring enormous tourism potential in Panchagarh aiming to accelerate economic advancement in the sub-Himalayan district.
They said private entrepreneurs should be encouraged to invest in the country’s tourism sector to utilise its potential for strengthening national economy.
The observations came at a discussion arranged by the Panchagarh district administration at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, marking the World Tourism Day- 2018.
Earlier, a colourful rally, participated by students, teachers, youths, government and non-government officials, civil society members and journalists, was brought out in the district town.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahirul Islam led the rally and attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Golam Azam in the chair.
Principal of Panchagarh Technical School and College Abdul Kuddus, Assistant Superintended of Police Rokon-Ud-Dowla Lupom, Panchagarh Press Club President Shafikul Alam, and student of Panchagarh Technical School and College Ummey Habiba Ferdousi Meem, among others, spoke at the discussion. Citing a member of archaeological sites and charming tourist spots of Panchagarh, the speakers discussed the huge tourism prospect prevailing in the sub-Himalayan region.
Jahirul Islam said many initiatives taken by the present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for exploring the prospects of the country’s tourism sector.
“More initiatives should be taken jointly by private and public sectors to attract travelers from both home and abroad to further develop the country’s tourism sector since its tourism prospect is yet to be tapped fully,” he said.
